FLOHBURG – Das Nordhausen Museum
Museum for handicraft, trade, industry and archeology in Nordhausen.
The Flohburg has existed since 1473/74 as one of the oldest and historically most valuable half-timbered houses in our town. While the first Nordhausen theater was housed here at the end of the 18th century, the building later housed various trades and was also used as a library for children and young people.
Lack of hygiene and numerous residents certainly gave rise to the original naming of the house.
In 2012, the Flohburg | Nordhausen Museum was opened as a modern city history museum after a reconstruction. It presents on more than 1000 m² exhibition space archaeological artifacts and interesting objects of urban history from the more than 1090 years old past of the city of Nordhausen. Starting from the traces of the first settlement to the time of the peaceful revolution in 1989.
