UNESCO-Welterbe Swiss Alps Jungfrau-Aletsch, WNF
The World Nature Forum (WNF) in Naters is the visitor center of the UNESCO World Heritage Swiss Alps Jungfrau-Aletsch and also the most modern museum in the Alps. In the interactive exhibition, visitors experience the World Heritage Site with all their senses and immerse themselves in the exciting and diverse Alpine world. With exciting films, interactive experience stations, information graphics and the latest technology, the spirit of research is awakened in young and old.
The exhibition deals with all the processes involved in the formation and change of the Alps: in the WNF, guests can get an overview of the area, learn about its exciting history and get to know and understand the unique natural and cultural landscape surrounding this high alpine scenery. The museum tour consistently refers to the central issues in dealing with this natural heritage. The highlight of the exhibition is the large panorama room, where fascinating film scenes from the UNESCO World Heritage Site enthrall visitors on a 100 square meter screen.
The digital tour of the WNF can hardly replace the physical museum visit, as it appeals to only two of our senses, whereas the didactic concept of the exhibition stimulates all five senses. Nevertheless, the virtual visit allows the targeted and undisturbed perception of numerous exhibits, a deepening of the subject matter is possible through the numerous specialized publications about the first and largest World Heritage Site of the Alpine Arc.
